PAM (Polled Access Mode). PAM is a technology that allows components on a wireless network to wake up periodically and poll their access point for stored messages. PAM allows battery powered devices to spend most of their time in a very low power consumption state. They only wake up to full power state at intervals to poll their access point(s) and to respond to any waiting requests. In some cases, using PAM rather than Constant Access Mode can increase battery life by a factor of 10 or more.
