RTOSB is a benchmark described in the May 1996 issue of Dr Dobbs Journal. RTOSB consists of a set of instrumented tests that use Drhystone integer benchmarks to investigate Real Time Operating System (RTOS) Round Robin Task Switch Overhead; Priority Tasking Overhead; Semaphore Management Overhead; Memory allocation/deallocation overhead; Interrupt Latency (Delay before interrupt is processed); Interrupt Overhead; and RTOS Messaging overhead. The tests are, conceptually at least, machine independent. However, executing and interpreting them would be an extensive and expensive operation including tools such as an evaluation board and an In Circuit Emulator.
