SCART - A connector found on some TVs that allows digital RGB signals to be input. SCART is a 20 pin connector plus an outside ground shield. It is generally called a 21 pin connector, but counting pins will yield 20. SCART is present on some PAL TVs -- especially in Europe. It may also be present on some High End NTSC TVs in the US. SCART is similar to RGB PC video. Relatively simple converters can be built to convert the PC separate sync signals to a combined sync and to provide a blanking signal. In concept, this allows direct display of PC output on SCART equipped TVs. However, results may be unsatisfactory if programs are run that attempt to program the video card directly since they may use monitor settings that the TV does not support.
