Location

Emigrant Pass -- 35.8856N,-116.0603W

Description

Slightly distorted trilobite cephalons in somewhat metamorphised slates/shales.

Directions to the site

From most places where people live, take I15 to Baker, CA

It is also possible to get to the site by turning West on Old Spanish trail from NV160 about 25km SouthWest of Pahrump, NV.

Rules and Access

Although the site is within the Nopah Wilderness Area, it is in the setback along a paved road called the Old Spanish Trail. Collecting fossils is permitted in this small area, but not in the areas further from the road

Paleontology

A limited fauna is exposed at Emigrant pass consisting of trilobite cephalons from the closely related genera Olenellus,Bristolia and Peachella. Complete trilobites have been found at this site, but they are extremely rare.
